All NVQ programmes are being redesigned to meet new Awarding Body standards, further details to follow.
NVQs are work-related, competence-based qualifications that focus on the job in hand. They are not a training programme but an assessment of a person's skills, knowledge and ability. NVQs put learning into practice and show what an employee can do as well as what they know.
NVQs are based on standards of work performance. Individuals are measured against standards that have been set at a national level by industry specialists and describe what competent people in a particular occupation are expected to be able to do. They cover all the main aspects of an occupation, including current best practice, the ability to adapt to future requirements and the knowledge and understanding that underpin performance.
